Dear Reader,
Americans have never quite grasped the importance of the fact that the Bill of Rights stops at the border.
Inside the US, power seekers face severe limitations. Beyond the borders, they can do anything they please. Foreigners are fond of Americans as individuals, and for the most part they like America's private companies and products. They hate and fear the US government, which meddles in every corner of the globe.
A new example recently came to light. The National Security Archive, a non-profit research institute at George Washington University obtained a copy of a State Department book about US involvement in Indonesia during the 1960s.(1)
Publication of the untitled book was banned by the State Department but the book was posted at www.gwu.edu/~nsarchiv and may still be there. The formerly secret book reveals that during a rebellion against the Indonesian dictatorship, the State Department supplied Jakarta's military units with money and intelligence information about rebel groups. Washington's aid to Jakarta led to the deaths of more than 100,000 suspected rebels.
A key word is "suspected." The Indonesian government has never been very big on legal technicalities such as evidence and juries. Nor are most of the other governments that Washington supports.
There are only about 20 nations where an American would feel comfortable living if he had to give up his American citizenship and passport, and have only the rights the locals do. That is 20 out of more than 200. With money, weapons, military training or some other kind of aid, Washington supports such paragons of virtue as the governments of Russia, Egypt, Macedonia, Romania, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Saudi Arabia, Chad, Nigeria and Columbia, to name but a few. Your tax dollars at work. Makes you proud, doesn't it?
Political power corrupts the morals and the judgement. It is anyone's guess how many innocent people the American taxpayer is forced to help terrorize, torture and murder, but the number is certainly in the millions. Each of these victims has family and friends who love him or her very much, and these people are not the least bit happy with Washington. Some are looking for revenge, which leads to the investment opportunity on pages 2-5.
