Dear Reader,                                                                               October 2001

Thanks for all the praise about our war predictions.
The last EWR was mailed on September 4th, seven days before the attack on the World Trade Center and Pentagon. All subscribers should have had their issue before it happened and were not surprised. Shocked, but not surprised.

I believe a secret alliance against Washington has been formed by the governments of Serbia, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Libya, North Korea, China, Pakistan, Chechnya, Sudan, groups in Russia and the Taliban in Afghanistan. Several hate each other but they hate Washington more, and in operations against Washington they are known to assist each other. In May 1996, I dubbed this group the New Axis.

If you have read this newsletter more than two years, and have read my book THE THOUSAND YEAR WAR, you can probably write this issue yourself. Indeed, the sad truth is you might have written many of September's news headlines a year ago.
You have probably already discovered this is not the time for I-told-you-sos, or for trying to explain to others the reasons behind the attack. America now has war fever, freedom of speech and press are sharply curtailed. Writers will try to give you all their thoughts, but you will need to get into the habit of reading between the lines.
This is surely the most intense case of war fever since the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor.
On September 16th, the NEW YORK TIMES ran a story explaining that the attackers are a new breed. They are older, deep cover and highly professional, in the tradition of Islamic agents of the Middle Ages. Parts of that TIMES story were almost word-for-word from chapter 20, "The Ultimate Weapon," of THE THOUSAND YEAR WAR. I had called your attention to that chapter in August, on page 4. (That half-page article should be reread as soon as possible, as should chapter 20.)

Yet, Washington is shocked at the "intelligence failure," all government agencies were caught by surprise. Former Army War College instructor Donald Snow said, "What's scary about this is that these guys have become a hell of a lot more sophisticated than we've ever seen them"1
If this newsletter saw what was happening, why didn't the government's giant intelligence agencies?
That was explained in the 6/97 EWR, pages 6 to 8. The investment industry does better intelligence work than the government because we don't get fired if our analysis leads to the conclusion that the government is provoking a disaster.
Incidentally, this issue of EWR has been sent only to persons who have received the last issue. Before you read further, please review page 1 of the September EWR.
    What can we expect now?
The September 11th attack was so brilliant in its tactics that we would be fools to assume it was not equally brilliant in its geopolitical agenda. Read on.

Is It Over?
"This is a picture of my husband, have you seen him? He's a real nice guy," cried the young woman to the TV cameraman near the wreckage of the World Trade Center. When I saw that, I got so weak in the knees I had to sit down.
Being right is cold comfort indeed when the war actually arrives and the suffering begins. The investment profits we have earned from being prepared for this have been nice, but I'd give all mine up in an instant if it would bring back that young woman's husband.
Before I go further, the usual clarification.
Much of what I say will be critical of the federal government. Never take this as criticism of America. The government and the country are not the same thing.
"The first casualty when war comes is truth."
           --Senator Hiram Johnson, 1917

Was September 11th the end of the attacks on the American homeland?
    Not likely.
The people who did it are highly intelligent and even more highly motivated, I doubt they will be content to throw one punch and go home.
To maximize the effect of the attacks, I expect them to wait a few weeks or months, until Americans are feeling relaxed and secure, then strike again.
More airliner-skyscraper crashes are unlikely, airline security will be too tight. Any kind of attack will do. Poisoning water supplies. Blowing up bridges. Arson. The possibilities are endless.
Before I cover the reasons the attack happened and what is likely in the future, I need to point out that...
Clear Terminology Is Essential
One of the first things a good military officer learns is, understand the enemy.
The officer cannot do this if he uses the government's emotion-laden language. This slanted terminology destroys the ability to understand what is happening and, more importantly, it destroys the ability to figure out what the enemy will do next.
What does the word terrorism mean?
There is no generally accepted definition.
"Let's start by erasing the word 'terrorist' from our vocabulary."
-- Robert Dorr, editorial in AIR FORCE TIMES, 9/24/01

To call a person a terrorist is to paint him as a homicidal lunatic. The "terrorist" is an irrational murderer who has no reasonable cause for his hatred. He is a maniac, a wildman, totally unpredictable.
But, as readers of EWR know, all of this catastrophe, except the exact timing and targets, has been entirely predictable.
Politicians love the word terrorist, it supplies soldiers with a one-word explanation for why they are being marched off to war - to fight terrorism.
Once the soldiers are in the field, they will quickly learn the word tells them nothing about the enemy's motives or what he is likely to do next.
Understanding is much easier if we use words that are not saturated with fury.
For years I have been calling them guerrillas and will continue to do so.
A guerrilla is a non-uniformed soldier. He is usually part-time, and a member of a population in which he blends so well he cannot be identified or located.
Very individualistic, the guerilla is not keen on following orders. He is supported by some, but usually not all members of the population in which he hides, and he rarely follows a chain of command. He strikes in small groups, or even by himself with no guidance from anyone.
In the case we are dealing with here, it is fair to call a guerrilla a one-man army and a one-man country. These people work in groups when it is necessary, then they go their separate ways, and may or may not form new groups.
They are needles that hop from haystack to haystack.
They get help from governments that share their goals, but it is unusual for a government to know who or where they are. Identities change with the wind.
The most important point to keep in mind about guerrillas is, the best of them are nearly impossible to identify or locate.
Also, guerrillas can be young. As any Vietnam veteran knows, even a five-year old can hand you a Coke can with a grenade inside.
The only way to win a guerrilla war is to murder the entire population in which the guerrillas hide.
Why the Attack Happened
We are at war. This is a medieval religious war between the Islamic World and Christian Europeans. It has been raging for ten centuries.
America is a new entrant. In the Barbary Wars two centuries ago, the US entered this Thousand Year War on the battlefields of north Africa. The phrase, "to the shores of Tripoli" in the Marine Corps Hymn is a reference to battles against Moslems in Libya.
Knowing little about the history of the people they were fighting, American leaders did not understand what they had gotten into.
They still don't. Most insist on seeing everything in terms of a Hollywood movie, good guys against bad guys, white hats against black hats.
No war is ever so simple.
On September 20th, President Bush said the attackers "follow the path of fascism and nazism."
I fear that army officers will believe this and will expect the enemy to behave on the battlefield as fascists and nazis do. These officers will be blindsided.
Worst Evil In History
The war itself is a thousand years old, but this round of so-called terrorism is recent. The seeds were planted in the 1940s, and they began to mature in the 1960s.
Most of the blame can be laid squarely at the feet of the socialist Bill Clinton and his socialist hero, Franklin D. Roosevelt (FDR).
It started with FDR's support for Joseph Stalin.
Three-quarters of the Second World War was the Eastern Front battle between Hitler's German Nazis and Stalin's Soviet Socialists.2
Except for Clinton, Roosevelt was America's most socialist president. Instead of staying out of the war and letting the German and Soviet barbarians pound each other to dust on the plains of central Europe, FDR abandoned neutrality. On June 24, 1941 he announced he would back Stalin.3
Stalin was the worse of the two evils. In fact, he was the worst evil in history.
In his book about the true nature of Old World governments, DEATH BY GOVERNMENT, R.J. Rummel reports that the most accurate estimate of Hitler's murders is 20.9 million. Hitler killed a lot more people than the six million Jews commonly cited.
Stalin's death toll was 42.7 million.
Roosevelt helped Stalin, so the worst evil won.
By 1945, it was clear that Stalin intended to conquer the world, and he might have the resources to do it. The USSR was enormous, it encompassed 16% of the earth's land surface, including all the raw materials there. Germany covered only 3.5% and was poor in raw materials, especially oil.
The way we market this newsletter is by sending the current issue as a sample to non-subscribers.
In October we would have launched a big marketing campaign to take advantage of being right about this new war. But, few prospective customers are prepared to hear the harsh truth. For them we would have needed to water down this issue.
This would have given you, our loyal readers, less than we are committed to provide you.
We decided to make this issue as revealing as possible, and forego the opportunity to use it for marketing.
Thank you, we sincerely appreciate your support over the many long years leading to this new era.

By the end of the war there was near panic in London and Washington as both governments realized what they had done by aiding Stalin. Only seven months after the war ended, Churchill announced that an "Iron Curtain" had descended across Europe.
A year later, Harry Truman proclaimed the Truman Doctrine, in which Washington pledged to help anyone who resisted the Soviet Union.
    Anyone.
Every president after Truman embraced the Truman Doctrine. For a half-century they sent money, troops and weapons to far corners of the globe to help the armed forces of any regime that claimed to be anti-Soviet.
Many of these supposedly anti-Soviet governments were crooks and tyrants. They included the Shah of Iran, Marcos in the Philippines, Manuel Noriega in Panama, Saddam Hussein in Iraq, Mobutu in the Congo, Chiang Kai-shek in Taiwan, General Park in Korea, President Diem in Vietnam, and Suharto and Habibie in Indonesia.
Nearly any thug who promised to be part of Washington's so-called "sphere of influence" received military assistance that was, in most cases, used to brutalize his own people.
In the Islamic world, the Shah of Iran and his secret police terrorized Iranians for 25 years with the help of Washington. The Shah claimed to be anti-Soviet.
Holy War
By the end of the Middle Ages the idea of jihad, or holy war, had fallen out of favor in most of the Islamic world and had been greatly softened.
In the 1980s, in a fit of anti-Soviet hysteria, US officials decided jihad might be a useful weapon against the USSR. They revived it by backing any Afghan group that preached it.4
Jihad worked spectacularly, the Soviets were beaten.
Then, jihad was re-incorporated into the Thousand Year War, and now it is used against Washington.
Clinton Was Too Corrupt To Do It
In case you are too young to remember, US officials were helping Saddam Hussein in the 1980s when he was using nerve gas on his own population. Hussein claimed to be anti-Soviet.
Washington has long had a near and dear alliance with the government of Turkey, which regularly slaughters Kurds, and is none too kind to its own Turks. The Turkish government claimed to be anti-Soviet.
Washington helped the tyrants in Jakarta kill more than 100,000 rebels. The tyrants claimed to be anti-Soviet.
Clinton had an easy opportunity to break out of this pattern when the Soviet empire fell apart in the early 1990s.
He was too corrupt to do it.
"The great upholder of laws at home was happy to trash them abroad, whether invading Grenada or mining Nicaraguan harbours. It propped up caudillos [military dictators] in Latin America, backed tyrants in Africa and Asia, promoted coups in the Middle East."
          -- THE ECONOMIST, 9/22/01

He could have ended aid to crooks and tyrants, but he was king of the world and in love with his power. Refusing to give up his empire, he continued supplying money, arms and training to any thug who claimed to be pro-Washington.
As I pointed out in the September EWR, Americans have never quite grasped the importance of the fact that the Bill of Rights stops at the border.
Inside the US, power seekers face severe limitations.
Beyond the borders, they can do anything they please.
Foreigners are fond of Americans as individuals, and for the most part they like America's private companies and products.
They hate and fear the US government, which meddles in every corner of the globe.
Instead of putting a halt to the meddling, Clinton sent aid to the Kremlin when Russian troops were massacring the Moslem Chechens.
But that was only the tip of the iceberg. We will come back to Clinton shortly.
Why We Didn't Pay Attention
In the 1950s, Iranians and other victims of Washington's aid tried to call attention to their plight. No one in America would listen.
Americans attend schools that are owned or controlled by government agencies. As they grow up they rarely hear anything critical of the government.
They develop a trust in the government's foreign policy and have almost no interest in it.
By the mid-1960s, it was becoming apparent to the victims of Washington's aid that the American people were not going to listen. Victims realized they needed to do something to grab our attention. Americans were focused entirely on the Soviet threat and could not have cared less about Washington's behavior in Iran or anywhere else.
The victims did not like killing innocent people, but their own families were dying at the hands of Washington-backed regimes; some decided to act.
In 1968, when presidential candidate Robert Kennedy promised to send fifty F-4 Phantom jet fighters to Israel, a Palestinian named Sirhan Sirhan killed him.
Americans did not want to hear the reason, they just wanted revenge.
1973 brought the first Arab oil embargo against the US. Again, Americans did not ask the reason, they just got angry.
1979 brought the Iranian hostage crisis. Americans did not want to hear explanations, they just wanted to hit back.
1983 brought the bombing of the Marine barracks in Beirut, killing 241 Marines. Still, Americans did not ask why, they just rallied behind their leaders and demanded revenge.
In 1988, Pan Am flight 103 was blown up over Scotland. No one asked, why do they hate us?
I could list more examples but you get the point. Not even the 1993 bombing of the World Trade Centerkilled six was enough to make the American people question their government's foreign policy.
1996 brought the bombing of the Khobar towers in Saudi Arabia, killing 19 Americans.
1998, the bombing of two embassies in Africa, killing 224.
Still not enough. Americans had been taught to trust their government's judgement in foreign affairs, so they assumed the attacks were unprovoked.
Then Clinton poured gasoline on the fire.
Clinton's Sex Wars
Like every other president of the 20th century, Clinton had carte blanche to do anything he pleased outside the country.
Remember Monica Lewinsky? As Clinton's sex scandals began to surface, he tried to divert attention. Embracing foreign intervention with a vengeance, he began firing "Monica missiles" into Serbia, Iraq, Sudan and Afghanistan.
We will never know how many innocent people died under the hail of Clinton's Monica missiles, but we can be certain their families and friends were not happy about it.
If someone killed your child or spouse in order to draw attention from his sexual blunders, how would you feel? What would you do?
What would be your attitude toward the people he represents when they refused to do anything about him?
This war should be called Clinton's War.
Political Power Corrupts
Summarizing what we have covered so far, it was Roosevelt's insane rescue of Stalin that led to the equally insane policy of aiding any tyrant who claimed to be anti-Soviet. Each of these dozens of tyrants have hurt thousands, sometimes millions, and now the victims are looking for revenge.
Political power corrupts the morals and the judgement. After the fall of the Soviet Empire, Clinton had an easy opportunity to end this insanity, but instead he escalated it, and turned it to his own personal use. He fired hundreds of "Monica missiles" to divert attention from his uncontrolled hormones.
Apparently, the Monica missiles were the last straw, and September 11th began the retaliation. Exactly three years ago, in the 10/98 EWR, page 7, I warned,

In the eyes of a billion Moslems, Clinton tried to draw attention away from his sex problems by committing an act of war. Remember this as the war between the Islamic world and the West continues to escalate and the media report more "unprovoked" attacks on Americans.

When the World Trade Center went down, Washington was still bombing Iraqis three times a week. It's become a habit.

Objective of the September 11th Attack
I can see three possible objectives of the attackers. I will explain them, and give the probabilities, starting with the least likely.
Objective #1: Inflict pain.
This objective assumes the guerrillas are evil, irrational lunatics and they hurt us for no reason.
I give this a probability of 5%, but I am sure most of the country would give it 95%.
Objective #2: Force a withdrawal.
This objective assumes the guerrillas are not trying to do damage as much as they are trying to force Washington to withdraw from their lands and end support for the governments that are killing their families. Probability, 10%.
Objective #3: Create A Terrible Resolve.
Probability 80%. This objective comes from my belief that Clinton's Monica missiles were the last straw. This will take some explaining.
I was not prepared for one aspect of the September 11th attack, it caught me completely by surprise. The attackers struck lower Manhattan as well as Washington, in areas packed with individuals from the three top groups of opinion makers - the news media, the investment industry and government.
I do not think this was an accident. The survivors of the three groups, having seen the attack with their own eyes, and having lost friends, instantly contracted war fever. The war fever was then spread around the country, fanned by the passion of the opinion makers.
The day after the disaster, the prestigious WALL STREET JOURNAL ran an editorial by contributing editor Mark Helprin. The editorial called for an invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan by "expeditionary forces with extravagant basing and equipment," including 20 aircraft carriers. The US has 12 carriers.
Journalist Barbara Olson died on one of the hijacked planes. Her friend, columnist Ann Coulter wrote, "We should invade their countries, kill their leaders and convert them to Christianity. We weren't punctilious about locating and punishing only Hitler and his top officers. We carpet-bombed German cities; we killed civilians. That's war. And this is war."
If you have read Chapter 20 of THE THOUSAND YEAR WAR, you know we will probably never learn who was really behind the September 11th attack.
Washington will go to war against someone, without a thought for the old rule in the Mideast: when you hit someone, plant evidence to make it look like your enemy did it.
It is almost a certainty Washington will retaliate against the wrong people.
More importantly, war fever is so intense that the president, members of his administration and members of Congress have called for attacks not only on the people who hit New York and Washington but on any nation that helped them.
Readers of EWR have understood since 1996 that there is now an anti-Washington, anti-Nato group of regimes which I call the New Axis.
The governments of the New Axis provide help to each other and to dozens of independent guerrilla groups.
I am sure that in one way or another, the whole New Axis helped in the September 11th attack.
This leads me back to the question, they hit us in a location and a way that was certain to produce maximum war fever, why?
If they wanted Washington to withdraw from their homelands and stop meddling, why would they do something that would be sure to produce the exact opposite result?
I think because the New Axis has given up on the goal of forcing Washington to withdraw. Clinton's Monica missiles caused a 180 degree turn. Now they are saying, okay, you want a war, good; come ahead, there are twelve of us.
To Destroy America
Suppose you say to a top official in any New Axis country, rub the magic lantern and you will get one wish. What will they choose?
I think they would all say, I want to see the US entangled in an endless guerrilla war in Afghanistan.
Afghanistan is famous as the worst place in the world to fight a war. Guerrilla war is the worst kind of war, and no one is better at it than the Afghans.
Afghanistan has some of the world's harshest terrain. The south is desert, and the north is mountain peaks 9,000 feet higher than the Rockies. There is very little water anywhere.
The population numbers 25.8 million, and the terribly harsh environment means every one of them is tough as nails.
Afghanistan was conquered repeatedly in ancient and Medieval times, but the Industrial Revolution put a stop to it. After high quality rifles became available at low prices, every Afghan tribesman could own one, and now they do.
For more than 150 years, the two most powerful empires on earth, those of Moscow and London, tried to take Afghanistan. Neither could do it.
Both former superpowers learned the hard way that invading this terribly rugged nation infested with millions of snipers is a good way to lose all one's officers.
In January 1842, about 4,500 British troops tried to withdraw from Kabul. Only one made it out alive.
Soviet troops began arriving in Afghanistan on December 26, 1979. The war lasted nine years, and Moscow eventually had an estimated 100,000 men in the country. They reportedly had 15,000 dead and 30,000 wounded, then they fled.
Afghan dead were estimated at one million - 66 times that of the Russians. This gives an idea of Afghan tenacity, they may fight to the last man.
Each time I hear a pundit refer to the September 11th attackers as cowards, I wonder if this war will be history's most extreme example of underestimating the enemy.
The enemy will have help. An estimated 35,000 Moslem guerrillas from 40 countries joined the Afghans' fight against the Russians.
Bombing Mud Huts
Bomb and missile attacks are not likely to do much. The other side knew they were at war with the US before the US did, so they have long been scattered and hidden.
Afghanistan is one of the poorest countries in the world, it has only six factories worthy of the name.5 The US will run out of million-dollar cruise missiles a long time before the Afghans run out of empty mud huts.
The only way to fight the guerrillas will be to insert infantry to search and occupy every valley, every mountainside, every village and town.
Take your magic lantern to Russia and ask their favorite fantasy. I am sure everyone in the Kremlin will say, America in Afghanistan - we want to see America humiliated and exhausted in an endless, unwinnable war. Afghanistan took us down, so what could be better than America fighting in Afghanistan?
Chinese rulers would have similar feelings, and the Iranians even more so.
Look at a map. Iran, Russia and China could all secretly pour rivers of the latest and best weapons into any Afghan tribe that confronts US forces.
I have often pointed out that the most important element in war is logistics - the ability to get bullets and beans to the troops. Look at a globe. Try to find any other place in the world more remote from America than Afghanistan.
The Soviet Union was right on the border of Afghanistan. Its troops could walk there. But the USSR, the second mightiest military force ever seen on earth, was shattered on the hard rock of its unconquerable neighbor.
Afghanistan is landlocked. The effectiveness of Washington's most important asset, its navy, will be much reduced.
The World Trade Center had barely hit the ground when US officials began talking about retaliating against Osama bin Laden and the Taliban in Afghanistan.
I think there is a 65% probability bin Laden and the Taliban were framed by the rest of the New Axis.
This is not to say bin Laden or the Taliban are nice guys. They may really have had something to do with the September 11th attack.
But, as I said on page 1, the attack was so brilliant in its tactics that we would be fools to assume it was not equally brilliant in its geopolitical agenda.
What better way for the other 11 nations of the New Axis to get their wish - to exhaust America in an endless war in Afghanistan - than for most or all of them to collaborate in a scheme that would sucker Washington into invading this meanest place on earth?
Another hypothesis: after Clinton's Monica missiles, did bin Laden decide to become a martyr, the bait that will lure America into the Central Asian trap?
Bin Laden has kidney disease. How long he has to live, we don't know.
Maybe he is already dead, replaced by an imposter.
If not, maybe he plans to go out in a blaze of glory.
By the way, what happens if the Taliban says, we will give you bin Laden if you will give us Clinton?
The architect of the 1941 attack on Pearl Harbor, Admiral Yamamoto, said, "I fear we have awakened a sleeping giant and filled him with a terrible resolve."
Washington's enemies study America constantly, they surely know about Yamamoto's lament.
So, I am 80% certain of the Terrible Resolve objective: the purpose of the attack was not to seriously damage America or to create fear in America, it was to create war fever so intense that America will plunge headlong into a guerrilla war in Central Asia.
If this Terrible Resolve hypothesis is correct, then we can expect more attacks each time war fever begins to cool. Each attack will be crafted to have maximum emotional impact on opinion makers - on those in the news media, the financial industry and government.
Endless War
Afghanistan may be the intended heart of Clinton's War, but the war will likely spread. On September 14th, secretary of state Colin Powell reaffirmed that Washington would go after not only the guerrilla groups but the countries behind them.
Bush has announced that "We will make no distinction between the terrorists who committed these acts and those who harbor them."
On September 13th, Powell said "We will continue with a global attack on terrorism in general."
A September 15th Associated Press story quoted a Congressional Research Service study saying bin Laden alone is thought to have followers or operations in 34 countries.
Then there are Hamas, Hezbollah, Muslim Brotherhood, numerous groups calling themselves Islamic Jihad, and any number of other groups known and unknown scattered from Morocco to the Philippines. I am sure there are groups Washington would regard as terrorists based in at least 100 countries.
This, I think, is the ultimate goal of the September 11th attack - to lure America into a guerrilla war across all of Chaostan, from Morocco to the Philippines.
On September 14th, Congress revived the Gulf of Tonkin resolution. That resolution in 1964 said President Johnson should use "all necessary measures" in Vietnam. It was a blank check to widen the war without limit, and it worked, the war lasted another 11 years.
The September 14th resolution, passed by 98-0 in the Senate and 420-1 in the House, told the president to use "all necessary and appropriate force" against any nation that played any role in the attack.
Five days later Washington launched Operation Infinite Justice. Infinity is a long time.
Conscription?
To call this conflict terrorism is to trivialize it. This is a global guerrilla war.
President Bush signaled that he views this as a world war when on September 20th he issued an ultimatum to every nation on earth: "Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists."
This leads me to believe there is a 60% chance of a draft, and I wonder if they will draft young women as well as young men.
Incidentally, the lone vote against this world war was by Congresswoman Barbara Lee. She pointed out that the Constitution forbids Congress to give unlimited war-making power to the president.
Help From The New Axis?
Members of the New Axis, including Russia and Syria, have issued offers of help to the US.
Pakistan has agreed to let Washington use Pakistani soil as a staging area for attacks on Afghans.
US officials cheer these offers, taking them as evidence that the whole world is lining up behind them. A heady feeling I am sure.
More likely, the New Axis is simply doing all they can to grease the skids for the US to careen into the war they want to see. Any help Washington asks from them will be forthcoming as long as it will hasten the war and make it worse.
Once the US and Nato are mired in a guerrilla war in Afghanistan, or elsewhere, this will leave the other 11 New Axis nations free to do anything they please.

Do The Attackers Want A World War?
By September 16th, the individual Nato governments were already backing away from their commitment to go to war. I take this to mean European rulers had time to think about the implications of a guerrilla war in Central Asia.
This gives us a way to answer the question, do the attackers want a world war or just an endless guerrilla war with the US?
If they begin to hit European targets, stoking war fever in Europe, then I will take this to mean they want a world war.
If they hit only the US, then I think they are looking only for an Asian war with Washington.
Again, I believe the real purpose of the September 11th attack was not to hurt us, it was to create war fever. The real hurt is yet to come - after we are in their war in Central Asia. September 11th was a pinprick compared with what they have planned.
The Blueprint: Mass Murder
Extremely important: many of these people are deeply religious. They believe in an afterlife, it is a solid, unquestionable fact to them.
I suspect that after the Monica missiles, they are so enraged they no longer care about destroying our bodies, they want to kill our souls, to send us all to hell.
They know America's Achilles heel is guerrilla war. Guerrilla fighting turns our soldiers into depraved barbarians.
Remember the My Lai massacre during the Vietnam War? The only way to kill guerrillas is to kill the entire population in which the guerillas are hiding. Mass murder. Ethnic cleansing. Genocide.
I believe the attackers want to lure America into this kind of behavior. They want a war that will drag on for decades, rotting our hearts and plunging us into a corruption the likes of which the world has not seen since the Roman Empire.
If they fail to get us onto the worst battlefield on earth, Afghanistan, I am sure they will try for a guerrilla war somewhere else - Iraq, Iran, Serbia, Sudan, Libya - anyplace that will force American troops into repeats of My Lai, hundreds of them.
In this war, Clinton's War, go to hell is not just the enemy's curse, it is their battle plan.
A Blind Rage
The ease with which civilized people can be lured into atrocities is amazing.
In World War II, the British did not want to fly their bombers during the day when the planes could be seen by fighters and flak gunners. At night, conversely, bombardiers could not see their targets.
The British solution was "area bombing." This meant bypassing small military targets such as ports and factories, and instead scattering a hail of incendiary bombs across huge, easy to hit residential areas.
The British were remarkably scientific about it. They calculated that, on average, one ton of bombs could burn 200 German homes."Secrets of World War II: Firestorm, the Bombing of German Cities." History Channel Documentary. A Lancaster bomber could carry 11 tons of bombs, so the math showed that each strike by a Lancaster could burn 2,200 homes, and the families sleeping in them.
The British airmen who did this were regarded as heroes.
I am sure it is a common experience among veterans that they do not learn until years after their war that they were deceived and led into something no honorable person could be proud of.
I suspect that in this new war, the real attackers will not likely give up. They will keep hitting us, stoking war fever until, in a blind rage, America adopts unforgivable behavior - because the enemy is not trying to kill our bodies, he is trying to kill our souls.
The only way out of this is for Americans to swallow their pride and admit that their government's foreign policy has been brutal and insane.
Washington must get neutral and stop meddling in other nations. There is no rational or ethical alternative.
Summary
  1. I believe Clinton's Monica missiles were the last straw.
  2. Those who have retaliated are very religious, they are trying to destroy not our bodies but our souls. So...
  3. There is an 80% probability the purpose of the September 11th attack was to create war fever.
  4. Attacks will continue until, in a blind rage, America rushes irreversibly into a guerrilla war, gleefully committing atrocities many times worse than My Lai.
The government and the country are not the same thing. I love America and would not want to live anywhere else, but the government is, among other things, excessively emotional.
Those of you who read my original THOUSAND YEAR WAR report in 1981 (extended into a book by that name in 1999) know that for 20 years I have seen this disaster coming and have been trying to stop it. I failed. Clinton's War has begun.
What can you do now? Loan your copy of THE THOUSAND YEAR WAR6 to anyone who still has an open mind.
2002 could be a very interesting year. Stay tuned, and (quietly) warn everyone you care about.
